City of Bethel Animal Care & Control (animal shelter, dog licenses)
Bethel's Animal Care & Control handles loose and impounded animals, lost-pet inquiries, adoptions and dog licensing, and works with Bethel Friends of Canines to place animals. To license a dog, call 907-543-2047 — a license is $10 and includes an AVID microchip. Adopting from the City costs $25 (license included); call to set up an appointment with a Community Service Officer, and check the impound log with photos if your pet is missing. Impounded animals are held 4 days; unclaimed animals go to Bethel Friends of Canines. Impound fees per the City Fee & Rate Schedule: 1st offense within 24 months $50 first day, 2nd $75, 3rd+ $100, plus a daily fee for each additional day; euthanasia is $30. For an injured or stray animal call police dispatch, 907-543-3781. If you suspect rabies in an animal, do not shoot it in the head — the brain is needed for testing — call the City instead.
