Bethel Search and Rescue (BSAR) – river ice & trail reports
Bethel Search and Rescue is the volunteer group that marks winter trails on the Kuskokwim from Bethel to nearby villages (Napaskiak, Oscarville, Napakiak downriver; Kwethluk and Akiak upriver) with stakes and reflective tape, flags open holes, and flies aerial ice surveys after freeze-up. Their ice and trail reports are shared through KYUK (radio and kyuk.org) and on BSAR's Facebook page. Stay on marked trails, travel with a partner and an ice pick, and check the latest report before crossing.
