Become a foster or kinship parent - Alaska Center for Resource Families (ACRF) & OCS Ketchikan
Ketchikan needs licensed foster homes so local kids can stay in the community. The Alaska Center for Resource Families is the free statewide helpline for anyone thinking about fostering, adopting or raising a relative's child: 800-478-7307 (toll-free), acrf@nwresource.org - they walk you through licensing, required training and support after placement. Licensing itself is done by the Office of Children's Services; the Ketchikan OCS office is in the State Building, 415 Main St. Room 201, 907-225-6611.
