Become a teacher while working in KGBSD (SHI-sponsored educator apprenticeship with UAA)

KGBSD, with Sealaska Heritage Institute as the sponsoring organisation, partners with UAA's SUNRAE registered-apprenticeship program so district employees (classroom aides, paraprofessionals) can earn an Alaska teaching credential while they keep working in a classroom with a mentor teacher - a 'learn while you earn' path. Apprentices must be accepted into the registered apprenticeship and work with students in a school or child-care setting. Ask KGBSD Human Resources (907-247-2113) about openings and sponsorship.
