Burial Assistance (BA) — up to $2,500 for funeral costs
Burial Assistance provides up to $2,500 to eligible tribal members of Ambler, Buckland, Deering, Kiana, Kivalina, Kobuk, Noatak, Noorvik, Selawik, and Shungnak toward funeral expenses. The surviving spouse (or, if none, the relative arranging the funeral) applies and must show the deceased lived in the Maniilaq service area for at least 6 consecutive months before passing; BIA burial funds do not allow reimbursement and are only available when no other resources exist. Call 907-442-7021, or reach Patient Advocacy at 907-442-7156 for burial assistance applications tied to a hospital death.
