Maniilaq Traditional Foods / Hunter Support Program (Siġḷuaq)
The Hunter Support/Traditional Foods program supplies fish and game to elders aged 60+, and gives village tribal governments support funds so local volunteers can buy ammunition, gas, and oil to hunt for elders who can no longer harvest on their own. Donated subsistence foods are stored at the Siġḷuaq (traditional foods donation/storage center) and distributed to Utuqqanaat Inaat elders and community events in Kotzebue. Contact Maniilaq General Tribal Services or your village tribal office to donate or request support.
