KNOM Radio MissionNJUS PUBLIC NOTICE – ICY VIEW SUBDIVISION Nome Joint Utility System recently observed an unusually high volume of water being delivered to the Icy View subdivision. At the same time, the Icy View NW sewer lift station has experienced a corresponding increase in wastewater flow. This indicates that much of the additional water being used is entering the sewer system, suggesting that residents may be leaving faucets running to prevent their water lines from freezing. NJUS would like to remind Icy View residents that continuously running faucets is not necessary when the home's water circulation system is operating properly. Residents should ensure that their circulation pumps are plugged in and operating as intended. These systems are designed to keep water moving through the home's water supply-and-return lines and help prevent freezing during cold weather. If residents remain concerned about freezing, a faucet may be left slightly open to maintain a slow, steady drip. However, the volume of water NJUS is currently observing is significantly greater than what would be expected from this practice. We want to inform our customer of this as excessive water use places unnecessary demands on both our water distribution and wastewater collection systems. It increases the amount of water that must be produced, treated, and distributed, while also requiring our sewer lift station pumps to operate more frequently and for longer periods, increasing the risk of costly maintenance and repair/replacement. NJUS asks all Icy View residents to check their circulation pumps and avoid leaving faucets running unnecessarily. Thank you for your cooperation in helping NJUS maintain reliable water and sewer services for Icy View.33 shares
